• Three of Queen Ka’ahumanu Center’s Allied Universal Services security officers, Dominique Alakai-Farrell, Rodel Jose and site supervisor Dexter Mateo, were honored for lifesaving efforts at a recent Top Cop Hawaii Award Ceremony.
The three were recognized Oct. 24 on Oahu for their work to help an unresponsive center patron in August until Maui Fire Department first responders arrived.
“Our QKC security personnel responded immediately and appropriately to a medical emergency using proper judgment to a customer who was in need of help,” center general manager Ed Krampitz said in a Nov. 4 announcement.
Top Cop Hawaii is presented by The Law Enforcement and Security Coalition of Hawaii and honors local, state, federal and military law enforcement and security professionals who show “outstanding professionalism, dedication, heroism and community service.”
• Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center recently tapped Hui No’eau veteran employee Anne-Marie Forsythe as executive director, over-seeing all operations and fundraising.
Caminos
Forsythe, who was born on Oahu and raised on Maui, has spent the last 14 years contributing to the success of the center’s educational programs. She began the new role Nov. 11, an announcement said.
“The work and programs Anne-Marie has brought to Hui No’eau are impressive,” Rob Stoner, board co-president, said in a release. “She cares deeply for the organization and is committed to its future success and growth.”
• Castle Hospitality Group has announced new hires Jeff Caminos, senior vice president of operations, and Renette Carpio, director of operations, both of whom have Maui hospitality experience.
Caminos spent more than nine years with Castle, starting as general manager of Kamaole Sands on Maui before advancing to vice president of operations.
Carpio spent 10 years as director of owner relations/operations for Castle Resorts & Hotels in Honolulu and five years as general manager of various Castle Resorts & Hotels properties on Maui.

Honolulu-based Castle Hospitality Group is a hotel, resort and vacation rental management company with two brands, Castle Resorts & Hotels and Castle Vacation Rentals Hawaii.
n Kahului Walmart longtime employee Chris Pierce, a veteran with Hawaii Army National Guard, was recently named store manager.
Pierce, who was promoted to the position Nov. 9, grew up on Oahu and has worked for Walmart for 21 years, according to a Nov. 11 news release.
At the Maui location from July 2001 to November 2005, his positions included night assistant manager, merchandise assistant manager and operations assistant manager.
Walmart has hired more than 590 veterans in Hawaii over the last six years to fulfill its Veterans Welcome Home Commitment.
Pierce
• Bank of Hawaii has named Michelle Pellettieri, assistant vice president and executive loan officer at Maui’s loan center, the top October residential loan producer for the island.
The recognition goes to loan officers who produce $4 million or more in residential loans, according to a Nov. 19 news release.
• Trilogy Excursions recognized Capt. Dani Kleinhenz for being awarded Maui’s Tour Guide of the Year from the Sustainable Tourism Association of Hawaii at its annual Sustainable Tourism Halawai on Nov. 6.
The association annually honors tour guides who “best embody the core assets of quality sustainable tourism including effective interpretation, conservation of natural resources, and authentic cultural experiences,” a Nov. 19 news release said.
This year Kleinhenz helped install a Molokini Crater weather station, led a National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration rapid response team in helping save nine pygmy killer whales stranded in Kihei, and volunteered with a NOAA whale research vessel, according to Trilogy.

• Kaiser Permanente Hawaii has announced that Diana “Jill” Riggs has been promoted to director of clinic operations on Maui, overseeing clinic management and leading administrative operations.
She also began to serve as Wailuku Ambulatory Surgical Center administrator Sunday.
Riggs has been with Kaiser Permanente since 2011, starting as a primary and specialty care charge nurse and working her way up to senior clinic manager, overseeing all clinical services at the Wailuku Medical Office, according to a Nov. 18 news release. Prior to joining Kaiser Permanente, Riggs was an emergency room charge nurse at Maui Memorial Medical Center.
Riggs holds an associate degree in nursing from University of Hawaii Maui College, a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in Wilmington, N.C., and a Master of Science degree in nursing from Gonazaga University in Spokane, Wash.
• First Hawaiian Bank has announced the promotion of three Maui bank officers: Dean Duque, as vice president and Maui region manager; Bard Peterson, as vice president and Kahului Banking Center manager; and Royle Taogoshi, as assistant vice president and business banking team leader at Kahului Banking Center.

Duque, who oversees all eight of the bank’s Maui branches, has more than 25 years of financial services experience, a Nov. 18 news release said.
Peterson, who covers branch operations and manages a team of bankers, has more than 27 years of financial services experience.
Taogoshi, who provides guidance and support to a team of business banking officers, has more than eight years’ experience in commercial and business banking.
• Deeva Berera, M.D., has joined the internal medicine department at Kaiser Permanente Maui Lani Medical Office, according to a Sept. 24 news release.
She earned her medical degree from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine in Orlando, Fla., and completed her internal medicine residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, N.Y.
• The Hawaii Employers Council has announced the election of nine Hawaii executives to serve three-year terms as board members, effective Jan. 1, which includes Gregg Nelson, Napili Kai Beach Resort general manager, chief executive officer and president.
The council is a nonprofit employer association dedicated to helping employers build skilled, engaged and effective workforces.
